タイ土産はココナッツオイルに決まり！

タイは、言わずと知れたココナッツ消費大国。ココナッツミルクに、ジュース、オイルと様々な形で消費されている。

 
「ココナッツオイルは、脂肪燃焼、脳梗塞や心筋梗塞の防止、血中コレステロールの正常化による心臓病予防、髪や肌の保湿、脳機能の活性化など、様々な効果が期待できます。そしてタイで言い伝えられてきたのが、髪やまつ毛にココナッツオイルを塗ると、黒く健康的な毛が育ち、十分に伸びてくるということ。私もまつげに塗っているんですよ。」

 
更に、ユニークな使い方は、マウスウォッシュとして使うこと。ココナッツに含まれるラウリン酸は、抗菌作用に優れているため、天然のマウスウォッシュとしても重宝されているそう。

 

タイでは、他の国に比べてリーズナブルにココナッツオイルが手に入りやすいのも魅力。例えばこちらの商品（オーガニック・ヴァージン・ココナッツオイル）は小さいボトルで200THBほど。大きなボトルも480THBで購入できる。

Coconut oil
Currently the usage of coconut oil is very popular in Japan. As you may know coconut oil is known for its amazing benefits such as:
•Helps burn fat
•Reduces seizures
•Improve blood cholesterol levels, can reduce risk of heart disease
•Great moisture for hair and skin
•Boosts brain function

Thailand is one of the countries that consume lots of coconut (coconut milk, juice, oil). We use all parts of the coconut especially the milk and oil to cook. Other than for cooking, from ancient times – it is said to rub coconut oil on your hair and eyebrows to have hairs grow fully, black, and healthy. I have not personally tried this but I will since I do not have much ‘full’ eyebrows. Another interesting usage of this oil is to use it as a mouth wash, deodorant – as it is full of Lauric Acid which is known to kill bacteria , fungi, viruses.

As Thailand is a ‘coconut’ country, therefore the cost of coconut oil here is not as pricy compared to other non tropical countries (approximately 200 THB (small bottle) – 480THB (big bottle) ).

You are able to buy coconut oil in mostly any supermarket in Thailand (Villa Market, Big C, Tops).You can get so much out of a bottle of coconut oil. I would recommend for all tourist to at least buy a small bottle and try it out !
